Earlier it was mentioned that you could request catalogs for friends and they would be mailed with a discount code on their first order.

I would like to send catalogs to my grandmother and my mother for Christmas gifts (for me, or dd??? probably both!).

If someone is willing to do this, please PM me and I will send you their info.

I want to wait until closer to Christmas to spend my $$, since that's when I'm going to give it to dd.

    Thanks.

I got an e-mail about this, and it basically said that all you have to do is go through the AG site and fill out friends' and families' names.

I don't understand. Why don't you add them to your list in the Club? If you aren't member, than you can go to the American Girl website and request a catalog in their name. They will probably receive a catalog with a discount. Once they place the first order in their name though, they probably won't receive anymore catalogs with the codes on them. The discounts are usually the same as you can find listed here. What was posted before was that you could get stars for adding someone to your list in the Club. If your not a Club member, there really aren't any advantages to having a catalog sent to them so you can use the discount.

I don't think just requesting a catalog will get a discount.
I think it was advertised as a special for people in the club to refer others. Having someone in the club put in the name ensures that they get a code, I guess.

If you request a catalog for someone who has never ordered from American girl before and has never received a catalog, than they will get a catalog with a discount code. Once American Girl has their address, though, they might not receive any additional codes. I've done this a few times and every time the person received a catalog with a code.

I got someone to do it--thanks.

I don't think that just going to the site insures a code. I requested one for myself before we were on the mailing list, and I had never placed an order, and they don't have the codes.

I think what historylover was trying to say is that the discount codes that you get from being on a club member's family and friends list are exactly the same as the ones listed here. I am in the club, and had my mom put my dad and grandparents on my list, and they both got catalogs with the same 10% off code that we've had posted here for a while.
